About the project
Our ceramics collection is handmade in a small fair trade project in Nepal. With this project we provide jobs to small family businesses, supporting the local business in Nepal. Working directly together with the families maximises our social-economic impact in one of the poorest countries in the world.
How it is made
The ceramics that are made in this fair trade project are created on a so-called throwing wheel, this is a machine with a disk that turns rapidly so that the shapes of the ceramics can be created. With small knife like tools the shape of the ceramics are carefully finished. Afterwards the ceramics are baked in an oven to harden the clay and set the shape.
Why choose ceramics
One of the main reasons we love ceramics is due to the high durability and completely natural source of the items. Due to process of being fired, the minerals in the clay create a product that can last a lifetime or longer.
